Hi there,
Thank you for taking the time to dive into this part of my application for the position of Social Media Specialist at Ole Red.
This page is intended to showcase some work samples I had mentioned during my follow up interview with Jen. The content below includes short form videos edited or produced specifically for social media.
I’ve also included other content that I believe helps showcase who I am as a candidate.
Short form videos I wrote, directed and edited
Project: Wingardium Gose
Assignment: For this video, I was instructed to come up with a fun and engaging way to announce the launch of our new Taproom beer, Margarita Gose.
I noticed that the name was pretty similar to a spell in an iconic Harry Potter scene, and the concept for the video was born.
My Role: This was a project that I wrote the script for, directed each scene, and edited into the final product.
Reception: This video was one of our most engaged with pieces of content on our account all year. It was our 5th most viewed reel ever within a day of being posted and received more comments and story shares than any of our previous posts at the time.
Project: Summer Beer
Assignment: This video was created as a way to announce the launch of our latest seasonal beer named Summer.
After pitching a couple of different concepts to our marketing team, I was approved to proceed with the idea of using the famous song from High School Musical.
My Role: This was a project that I wrote the script for, directed each scene, and edited into the final product.
Reception: This video is our 3rd most viewed reel ever and we immediately started receiving inquiries asking where people could find the beer within a day of being uploaded. It is also our most successful piece of content centered around a product launch.
Social Media Event Recaps
Project: Fall Fest
Assignment: This video was created as a recap of Big Machine Tavern’s annual Fall Fest.
My Role: During the event, I shot footage on my phone and took photos on my camera. Afterward, I edited together the photos and video into one event recap.
Reception: This video was the most viewed reel on our account at the time of posting, with 7x more views than our account average.
Project: Ashley For The Arts Festival
Assignment: For this event, I worked alongside a three-person content team to produce event recaps at the end of each day of the festival.
My Role: I shot some of the footage used and was responsible for editing all of the footage on site, delivering a full video within an hour of the event being over each day.
Reception: The content was used across the event’s social platforms and received significantly higher engagement than other pieces of content posted from the event. Most notably, our comments section had a lot of people tagging friends they recognized in the video, which in turn helped increase our total follower count.
Reporting / Writing
Jen mentioned in my interview that this position currently involves a lot of reporting, something that I’m very familiar with after four years of journalism school and working for the student-run paper.
I’m guessing the type of reporting for the Ole Red Social Media Specialist position won’t be as heavily focused on writing, but I figured I’d include these anyway to showcase my writing skills.
The first two articles are both events I covered and wrote a recap article for within an hour of the event’s conclusion. The third article is the introduction to a personal column I started my senior year of college.

Five for 5: 1 non-foodie’s journey to find a 5-star meal for $5
If you’ve made it this far, I truly appreciate you taking the time to get here. When Jen asked me in the interview what music I liked listening to, I was completely caught off guard mainly because so many artists started running through my head all at once.
I know I wasn’t happy with my initial answer, so I figured I’d give another shot at that question by featuring a Spotify playlist that is just the tip of the iceberg.
Thank you again for your consideration.
